Also it is very important to know if a unit is currently under fire. I want those information fast without having to wait an artificial second. Maybe the unit's tooltip (name, stats, etc) appears a bit too late. Maybe place them underneath the resource meter and make them toggable. The "tasks" of the current challenges which you can see in the tactical map should be visible without having to open the tactical map. The possibility to reset the camera angle by clicking on NORTH is great! I hope this also resets the camera turning (didn't check that because I don't know how or if it is even possible in the Alpha). I would suggest replacing it with some kind of a hamburger icon instead. The tactical map itself is a great addition, but it surprised me to see it after this icon.Īlso the gear icon might be wrong because it makes the user expect the settings menu but it opens the complete main menu instead.

It shows a magnifying glass so the first time I clicked it I expected to zoom in (or maybe reset the zoom level). The "Tactical Map" Icon is not understandable. (Also the lack of a Shift Order stacking confused the hell out of me but that is probably also an Alpha thing). You can move around units by left clicking on the minimap but it is currently not possible to cap positions with the minimap. Minimap looks good but lacks a lot of features (probably Alpha problem). Might be a personal problem, but I know many people who have an enabled Steam FPS counter that overlays the resource meter on the top left.Īlso if the the resource income increases, it sometimes expands the box a bit, that doesn't look nice. Would be nice to have switching background images here if the loading takes a bit longer. Currently you click it and the game immediately closes. On challenge maps, map's legend is a bit messy and hard to understand but this looks like an Alpha problem.Ĭlicking the the "Quit Game" button should show a "Are you sure you want to return to the desktop?" message. (This may differ if it is about deleting stuff where pressing the wrong button could be a mistake - But not the case here). Once you have selected a challenge/mission the Start Mission and Back Buttons should be switched in my opinion as going back is usually placed on the left side and the "finalizing action" is usually the bottom on the right. Maybe a "Back" button on the bottom left would be a better solution. The only thing I dislike here is that the button to close the challenges/missions menu again is REALLY small and on the top right of the content. It would give the menu a way more "alive" feeling. The mech could just move a bit while steaming in the rain (which should also be animated). The two guys in the background could be walk around a bit, smoke a cig etc. What I personally would find even better was if the background here was animated. Menu animations look nice with the small toggle animation. Imo Iron Harvest has a much better solution. Go check out the Iron Harvest website HERE if you want to learn more about the game and the world.Looks very clean and tidy, I like that! CoH2 had a problem with a really cluttered main menu UI with hard to find functions. That said, we’ll be keeping an eye out for this one as it develops! Will there be an overworld map? Will you have to manage your factions resources? How will battles be initiated? Will there be multiplayer?! It’s just too early to tell. There could be a campaign aspect to the game similar to Scythe. But those two things aren’t mutually exclusive. Scythe was more of an “empire” building game and this one is an RTS driven game. We aren’t even sure how much (if any) of Scythe‘s gameplay will be in Iron Harvest. I’m trying not to get too excited until I see more about this game, but I really enjoyed Scythe and Company of Heroes is one of my favorite games – so expectations are pretty high! It’s still really early in the development cycle (it’s only been worked on for about a year so far). But it looks like there will be some squad/cover based movement (a la Company of Heroes) and destructible environments, too! The video has a bunch of Pre-Alpha gameplay on display so you can see for yourself.
